Victoria hangs on to win the BDBD Saturday Premier pennant

Victoria has claimed the Ballarat District Bowls Division Saturday pennant over Ballarat in an exciting affair at Webbcona Bowls Club.

It led from start to finish but were nearly overran by a late come-back from Ballarat.

It managed to steady for a six-shot win, 60-54.

Team captain, Shaun Clark, said it was great to hold on for the win and a relief to finally have a result after a drawn-out finals series due to rain delays.

“It’s been a long finals series, it’s good to finally get it finished and great to have a win,” he said.

“I think we nearly got out to about a 20-shot lead, they came very hard Ballarat at the end, luckily there wasn’t too many more ends because we might have been in trouble. It was a great game.”

The rink skippered by Aaron Wood was able to draw first blood for Ballarat with a six-shot come-back win.

The rink skippered by Wayne Lynch answered for Victoria with a six-shot win of their own.

Another six-shot victory to Victoria in the third rink, skippered by Noel Verlinden, was the difference on the day.
