Victoria Bowling Club crowns our latest Singles Club Champions

Congratulations go to Shaun O’Loughlin and Deb Gorin for becoming the Singles Club Champions for 2021-22 in the Mens and Ladies divisions.

Shaun O’Loughlin got the win against Stephen Britt in very warm conditions on Monday January 10. With consistent bowls and regularly putting his opening bowl close, Shaun was able to control the match from the start. Steve made a number of fight-backs during the game, picking up a 4 to square off the game at 19 all, but couldn’t stick with Shaun as he closed out the match 25 -20. This was Shaun’s first success in the Club Championship Singles.

In difficult swirly wind conditions on Wednesday January 12, Deb Gorin was able to best manage the test against Donna Leeson. Despite what the weather threw at them, both players peppered the jack throughout the match, with the head constantly changing and some great conversions shots being played. Tight measures decided the result on many ends throughout the game. In the end, Deb was able to play the big shots when required and ran out the winner 25 – 15. This notches up Deb’s second Ladies Club Championship adding to her success in season 2019-20.
