Success for Victoria Bowling Club in Saturday Pennant

After an incredibly successful season in both Tuesday and Saturday BHBR – Ballarat pennant seasons, Victoria Bowling Club can pride themselves in bringing home the Saturday Division One and Division Five pennants.

Our Saturday Division Four and Five sides lined up on adjacent greens at City Oval to play out their Grand Finals. The Fours were facing off against the flag favourites in Ballan, while the Fives were up against Sebastopol. With a huge number of supporters getting behind both sides, the Fours hung in all day and pushed Ballan to a tight finish, narrowly going down in a fantastic fighting effort.

The Fives managed to get off to a great start, setting up a comfortable buffer and managed to maintain it throughout the day and came home with the medallions and a rousing rendition of the club song after being presented with their medals.

Division One had a dominant season, only dropping one game throughout the course of the season. With the format of the Division One competition expanding to a 16 player side, Victoria Bowling Club’s depth showed out with commanding wins throughout the home and away season finishing 71 points clear of second place and with a shot differential of +423 shots.

In the finals, Victoria accounted for BMS in the qualifying final at Central Wendouree, before meeting them again in the Grand Final at Sebastopol Bowling Club. With incredible support from a rowdy Big V crowd, the side powered home to a 95-65 win.

Tuesday pennant saw great results for all of our sides, with three of the four sides making finals (Division One storming home to finish on top of the ladder) and Division Three making the Grand Final. Unfortunately, Division Three fell just 3 shots short of Linton in their battle for the pennant.
