Craig Ford takes out BHBR Bowls Singles Championship
Victoria Bowling Club’s Craig Ford took out another Singles championship on Sunday played at Woodend Bowling Club in a commanding performance playing off against the Highland’s playing area champion Anthony Mathison from the Kyneton Bowling Club.
In the morning’s semi final of the Ballarat Highland Bowl Region’s Singles Championship Ford faced a close contest with Sebastopol’s Jarryd Evans throughout the match with both players on 21 shots on the 23rd end before Ford finished off winning the last three ends to take the match 25 shots to 21 and take the title for the Ballarat playing area of the competition.
Playing off for the Region final in the afternoon Craig Ford played Kyneton’s Anthony Mathison who had earlier won the Highland’s playing area title.
The game played over 21 ends saw Ford take a commanding 15 shots to 2 by the ninth end before Mathison winning the mat extended the length of the ends to commence a revival to take his score to 10 by the fifteenth end after which Ford then regained the mat and shortening the ends to his advance and managing the strong blustery winds that came into play in the later stages proceeded to take the command of the final stages of the game finishing off the game winning 25 shots to 12.
