Champion of State Pennant – Moama 2023

The weekend of May 6 and 7, Victoria Bowling Club’s Division One Weekend Pennant side made the trip to Moama Bowling Club to compete in the Champion of State Pennant.

Drawn in Section One which featured the highly favoured side from Deer Park and strong outfits from Wodonga, Shepparton Golf  and Lakes Entrance, the Big V got off to a great start with a narrow win over the side from Lakes Entrance 44 – 42.

The second game was always going to be tough, meeting Deer Park on a green where they had just played their first game. After a slow start Victoria fought back to get to within a few shots before Deer Park kicked away to win comfortably 29 – 51.

The final game of day one against Shepparton Golf saw the first game on grass for the day and a very disappointing result going down 39 – 47.

The second day saw a number of team changes and a strong finish to the tournament with wins against Wodonga and Warrnambool.

Congratulations to the side on their performance, finishing second in Section 1. The side was made up of Stephen Britt, Barry Clark, Shaun Clark, Brenton Coad, Kevin Coad, Michael Curtis, Craig Ford, Debbie Gorin, Sunni Haynes, Donna Leeson, Wayne Lynch, Shaun O’Loughlin, Marc Oswin, Paul Tudorovic, Noel Verlinden and team manager David Leeson.
